Clifton Bank Robbery ChargesA Newark man recently pleaded guilty to federal bank robbery charges for robbing banks located in Clifton, Kearny, and Lyndhurst.

The suspect, a 39-year-old man from Newark, NJ, was placed under arrest in September 2016 and charged with multiple counts of bank robbery.

According to prosecutors, the suspect committed the theft offenses in a single month this past summer. He reportedly robbed the Capital One Bank located in Clifton, the Schuyler Savings Bank located on Davis Avenue in Kearny, and the M&T Bank located in Lyndhurst. The suspect allegedly held up the Kearny NJ bank twice.

Detectives with several police departments investigated the bank robberies and eventually identified and apprehended the suspect.

Now the suspect has reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors and pleaded guilty to the bank robbery charges.

The suspect will appear in US District Court in August so that he can be formally sentenced. It’s possible that he could be sentenced to 20 years in a federal prison and fined more than $250K.
