Police in Clifton New Jersey are investigating a recent car crash that resulted in a pedestrian sustaining serious injuries.
The Clifton Police Department got a call about an auto accident a short time after midnight. According to law enforcement, the car crash happened near the intersection of Crook Avenue and Trenton Avenue in Clifton, NJ.
The victim was trying to walk across the road when he was allegedly hit by a 2007 Lexus being driven by a 19-year-old Clifton resident.
The victim is also from Clifton, New Jersey. After being struck by the car, he was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson NJ and treated for his injuries. Doctors later listed him in stable condition
Detectives with both the Clifton Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office are currently investigating the accident and determining whether to issue traffic citations against the motorist.
Clifton NJ detectives have not said whether the motorist was intoxicated at the time of the auto accident. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the suspect could potentially be charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).
A DWI conviction in NJ can result in severe penalties, including a suspended driver’s license, heavy fines, and jail time.
