Police arrested a West Milford man who allegedly committed a lewd act. According to law enforcement officials, the suspect was driving a vehicle on a New York highway when he exposed himself to another motorist.

The suspect is a 48-year-old man who lives in the Hewitt part of West Milford, NJ.

The suspect was reportedly operating a white van on the New York State Thruway in Tuxedo, NY. As the suspect traveling on the highway, he allegedly began to stare at a woman in another car. He then allegedly masturbated.

The woman used her cell phone to 911 and notify local law enforcement. Police officers soon arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect. He was subsequently charged with public lewdness.

If the suspect is ultimately convicted on the very serious sexual offense charges, he could wind up behind bars.

The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with public lewdness. If the suspect is convicted of the sex crime, he could face severe penalties.

The suspect will need to appear in West Milford Municipal Court in April to address the charges against him.
