Law enforcement is still investigating the recent violence at the Willowbrook Mall in Wayne, New Jersey.
The Willowbrook Mall was the site of chaos on Sunday night when reports of a shooter began to circulate on social media. Mallgoers got scared when they heard that someone inside the building was carrying a firearm and shooting at people.
When Wayne police officers arrived at the mall, they saw numerous people running out of the mall entrance.
Police investigated and determined that no one actually had a handgun. The chaos started when a fight broke out inside the mall food court, with two male adults and one juvenile reportedly throwing chairs around.
After the investigation, mall security guards issued notices of trespass to three people. Additionally, a minor was taken into custody by law enforcement.
Detectives with the Wayne Police Department are currently investigating the incident and checking out security footage from inside the mall. It is possible that authorities could decide to file criminal charges for disorderly conduct or simple assault against the juvenile in police custody.
