Police recently took a suspect into custody after he was shot by Paterson NJ cops during a violent incident.
The shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. in the area of Levine Street and Main Street in Paterson, NJ. According to initial media reports, the suspect was brandishing a large knife and possibly threatening police officers when they opened fire on him.
Afterwards, medical responders treated the suspect for his injuries and then transported him to a nearby hospital for additional medical attention.
The Paterson Police Department is not releasing many details about the police shooting, but a witness spoke to the media and said that she heard cops fire three gunshots.
The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office is currently conducting an internal affairs investigation into the police shooting, which is what typically happens when a Paterson NJ police officer uses their weapon.
Meanwhile, the suspect could potentially be charged with multiple crimes in connection with the violent incident, including aggravated assault and weapons offenses.
