Paterson Carjacking SuspectA New York man has pleaded guilty to charges related to a crime spree in Passaic County, NJ.

The suspect is a 19-year-old resident of Suffern, NY. According to law enforcement, the suspect was part of a group that committed an armed robbery of a bar located in Hawthorne, New Jersey. The suspect also allegedly committed a carjacking in Paterson, New Jersey.

The suspect is one of six people accused of committing a crime spree. The other suspects hail from Ridgewood NJ, Waldwick NJ, and Suffern NY.

Federal prosecutors said that the suspects held up the RD Benders Tavern in Hawthorne NJ on December 25, 2015. They reportedly got away with roughly $200 in cash.

The day after the Hawthorne bar robbery, the suspects allegedly kidnapped a taxi driver and then attacked him with a beer bottle. The suspects also reportedly used a knife to slash the driver’s throat.

Now the Suffern suspect is probably on his way to a federal penitentiary. He reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery, carjacking, and kidnapping. When the suspect next appears in US District Court in Newark on June 27, he will be formally sentenced.
