Paterson New Jersey detectives are currently investigating a shooting incident that resulted in fatal wounds to a teenage boy.
The fatal shooting occurred just after 5:00 p.m. at a home on Auburn Street in Paterson, NJ. According to law enforcement, someone used a firearm to shoot at the victims inside the house.
The Paterson Police Department got a call about gunshots fired and sent police officers and emergency crews to the area. When Paterson New Jersey cops arrived at the residence, they found two teenage victims who had sustained gunshot wounds.
The victims, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, were briefly treated at the home and then rushed via ambulance to nearby St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. Doctors at the Paterson NJ hospital provided further treatment to the victims, but they could not save the 16-year-old victim; he was pronounced dead sometime after arrival at the medical facility. Fortunately, the 17-year-old victim survived his injuries.
The Paterson Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office are actively investigating the shooting. Detectives have already spoken with witnesses and canvassed the area around the Auburn Street residence in search of the shooter.
If police can eventually identify and locate the shooter, the culprit would likely be charged with crimes that include first degree murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses.
