Paterson New Jersey police arrested six juveniles accused of distributing child pornography.
The four teen suspects include four boys and two girls, all of whom are between the ages of 13 and 16 and all of whom live in Passaic County, NJ.
According to authorities, the suspects used online social media accounts to get nude photographs of minors.
In December 2015, three girls reportedly saw their nude photos posted on the Internet and contacted law enforcement. Several law enforcement agencies then investigated the suspects, including the Paterson Police Department, the North Haledon Police Department, the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department, and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Detectives reportedly saw that the suspects had posted hundreds of nude images on the social media accounts.
The six suspects have been charged with multiple crimes, including distribution of child pornography, maintaining child pornography, cyber harassment, and invasion of privacy. According to prosecutors, the suspects will be charged with juvenile offenses, meaning that they will not be tried as adults.
After being arrested and charged, the suspects were released to their parents with pending court dates.
