Clifton New Jersey police are attempting to locate a man who allegedly hit a gas station attendant with his car after reportedly stealing gas.
The scary incident occurred at the Shell Station on Route 3 in Clifton, NJ. The suspect reportedly drove his car into the gas station in a silver vehicle and had the gas station attendant fill his car with $25 worth of gas.
According to law enforcement officials, the suspect declined to pay the bill and instead tried to flee the scene in his vehicle.
The gas station attendant attempted to stop the suspect by running onto Route 3 and standing in front of the car. The suspect then allegedly struck the victim with the vehicle, paused for a moment, and drove off.
The victim, a 56-year-old Clifton resident, walked away from the crash and went to an area medical facility. Doctors at the Passaic County hospital evaluated the victim and later listed him in stable condition.
Clifton NJ detectives investigated the incident and got surveillance video footage that reportedly showed the suspect committing the assault with his car.
If Clifton police can determine the suspect’s identity, he would probably be charged with multiple crimes, including assault by auto and theft.
