Riverdale NJ police officers recently arrested a Passaic County NJ woman accused of violently assaulting a cop and spitting on someone else.
The violent incident occurred a short time before noon. The Riverdale Police Department got a 911 call about a driver being threatened in a car traveling southbound on Route 23 south in Riverdale, New Jersey. When Riverdale police officers arrived at the scene and stopped the car, a silver Honda Accord, they searched a passenger in the backseat and allegedly found him hiding a syringe and an unspecified amount of heroin.
Additionally, Riverdale cops ran a check on a female passenger in the front of the vehicle and discovered that she had outstanding arrest warrants. When the police officers tried to arrest the suspect, she allegedly punched one of the cops and then spit in the face of the driver of the car. Moreover, police later found out that the female suspect allegedly has hepatitis.
The female suspect, who lives in Haskell (within Wanaque NJ), has been charged with numerous crimes, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Meanwhile, the male suspect faces criminal charges for heroin possession, illegal possession of a hypodermic needle, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both suspects were initially transported to Chilton Medical Center so that they could receive medical treatment for heroin withdrawal. They were later taken to the Morris County Jail, where they were being held on bail amounts of $15,000.
