Passaic County law enforcement recently arrested a records clerk with the Paterson Police Department. The woman was accused of distributing heroin out of her home in Paterson, New Jersey.
Authorities opened an investigation after they got a tip that the suspect was selling illegal drugs from her residence. Passaic County Sheriff’s Office detectives later went to the suspect’s residence, which is located on 12th Avenue in Paterson NJ, and executed a search warrant.
During the subsequent drug raid, narcotics detectives reportedly discovered 330 glassine envelopes of heroin. Officials said that the seized heroin has an estimated street value of roughly $1,250.
Passaic County detectives also reportedly seized $1,808 in cash, which they believe represents the proceeds from illegal sales of drugs.
The 42-year-old suspect, a female who is employed in the Paterson Police Department records office, has been charged with a number of very serious drug crimes. Among the criminal charges against the suspect are possession of heroin with intent to distribute and possession of heroin.
While the criminal charges are pending, internal affairs for the Paterson Police Department is investigating the suspect. At this time, she has been suspended without pay from her job in the records office.
