Clifton NJ police recently arrested three people who allegedly burglarized a local home.
According to Clifton law enforcement, the suspects committed the burglary around 4:00 a.m. at a residence located near Montclair Avenue and Circle Avenue in Clifton, NJ.
The Clifton Police Department got a call about a burglary in progress at the house and sent officers to the scene. When Clifton officers arrived at the residence, they reportedly saw the three suspects trying to hide behind a van parked on Norwood Avenue.
Two of the suspects reportedly attempted to flee police by running toward a nearby yard. Police officers with the Clifton Police Department and the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department then established a perimeter around the suspects.
When arresting the suspects, Clifton police allegedly discovered a handgun hidden in a pile of leaves.
The suspects include two teenagers – a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy – as well as a 20-year-old male.
The 15-year-old suspect faces several criminal charges, including burglary, receiving stolen property, and resisting arrest. He has also been charged with intercepting police radio communications since the arresting officers allegedly found him with a police radio scanner.
Meanwhile, the other suspects are charged with several crimes as well, including burglary, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, illegal possession of a handgun, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
The adult suspect faces additional criminal charges for employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime.
After being arrested and charged, the adult suspect was remanded to the Passaic County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. The 17-year-old suspect was taken to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center, while the 15-year-old suspect was released into the custody of an adult.
