Passaic County law enforcement recently stopped a motor vehicle in Paterson New Jersey and arrested a female passenger accused of hiding a firearm in her bra.
Police officers pulled over the vehicle on Route 20 in Paterson NJ after reportedly noticing that the car was speeding and swerving on the roadway.
Police spoke to the driver, a 23-year-old Paterson man, and reportedly smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the motor vehicle.
Officers ordered both the driver and the female passenger out of the vehicle so that law enforcement could search the car for evidence of drugs.
Police also searched the female passenger and allegedly found her in possession of a loaded .38-caliber Taurus revolver and a small bag of marijuana. According to authorities, the weapon and the drugs were concealed in the suspect’s bra.
Both the driver and the passenger were arrested and taken to police headquarters.
The female suspect face numerous criminal charges, including charges for unlawful possession of a weapon and simple possession of marijuana.
If the suspect is ultimately convicted on the criminal weapons offense charges, she could potentially be sentenced to significant time in prison because the New Jersey Graves Act imposes stiff penalties for illegal handgun possession.
