Paterson New Jersey Attempted Murder SuspectPaterson NJ police recently arrested a local man who allegedly shot someone on a city street.

According to Paterson authorities, the shooting occurred around 7:00 p.m. in the area of North 3rd Street and Jefferson Street in Paterson, New Jersey. Paterson police became aware of the shooting after the Paterson ShotSpotter gunfire detection system was triggered.

When Paterson police officers got to the scene, they found a 28-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his neck. Emergency medical responders transported the victim to nearby St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, where doctors treated him for his injuries. He was later listed in stable condition.

Paterson NJ detectives opened an investigation into the shooting and soon linked the suspect to the shooting. Shortly after a warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest, he turned himself in at Paterson police headquarters.

The suspect, a 27-year-old man who resides in Paterson, New Jersey, faces criminal charges for attempted murder, illegal possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

If the suspect is ultimately convicted on the most serious charges of attempted murder, he could end up spending the rest of his life behind bars in New Jersey State Prison.

After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspect was remanded to the Passaic County Jail in Paterson, NJ on an undisclosed bail amount.
