A Paterson man has been charged with first degree murder for a fatal shooting on a city street.
The suspect is a 27-year-old man who lives in Paterson in Passaic County, NJ. His brother, a 30-year-old Paterson resident and firefighter, was already arrested and criminally charged in connection with the murder.
According to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect drove the getaway vehicle after his brother shot the victim.
The suspect and the victim, a 39-year-old Paterson NJ man, reportedly got into a fight in the area of Essex Street and Madison Street in Paterson, New Jersey. The fight ended with the victim suffering a fatal gunshot wound.
Detectives with the Paterson Police Department investigated the fatal shooting and quickly identified the brother as the possible shooter. It took several months for police to identify the suspect as the possible driver of the getaway car.
Now both men are in police custody. The suspect who allegedly drove the car faces criminal charges for first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder, as well as criminal weapons charges for unlawful possession of a weapon.
