Detectives are investigating a homicide after a Paterson New Jersey man arrived at a Newark hospital and later died as a result of gunshot wounds.
The victim was a 27-year-old resident of Paterson in Passaic County, NJ. Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose indicated that the victim was “dropped off” at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center just after 1:00 a.m. The person who left the victim at the Newark NJ medical facility fled the scene and did not wait to speak to police.
Tragically, the victim died approximately 30 minutes after being left at the hospital.
The Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are conducting a joint investigation into the homicide and trying to figure out exactly what happened, including the location of the shooting and the identity of the shooter.
If investigators can determine the identity of the person who shot the suspect, that person could face criminal charges for first degree murder and weapons offenses.
