A Paterson NJ firefighter has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a man.
The suspect is a 30-year-old resident of Paterson, New Jersey. He is also employed as a member of the Paterson Fire Department, for which he has worked since June 2012.
The fatal shooting happened around 4:45 p.m. in the area of Madison Street and Essex Street in Paterson, New Jersey. According to law enforcement officials, the suspect was one of multiple people who may have committed the violent crime and shot the 39-year-old victim.
Paterson emergency responders and police officers rushed to the scene, found the victim, and transported him via ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. As soon as the victim got to the Paterson hospital, he underwent emergency surgery to try to save his life. Tragically, doctors could not save the victim; he was pronounced dead a few hours after arrival.
The suspect faces several criminal charges, including first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a handgun, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
