Passaic New Jersey police are searching for a suspect in a fatal shooting on a city street.

The shooting incident happened around 11:21 p.m. on Federal Street in Passaic, NJ. Two people, a 23-year-old Passaic NJ man and a 20-year-old Woodland Park NJ man, were walking in the area when someone used a firearm to shoot them.

The Passaic Police Department got a 911 call about gunshots being fired and dispatched police officers and emergency medical responders to the scene. Paramedics took the two shooting victims to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey.

Doctors at the Paterson NJ hospital pronounced the Passaic NJ victim dead a short time after arrival. Meanwhile, doctors treated the Woodland Park victim for his gunshot wounds and later released him.

The Passaic Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office are actively investigating the violent incident. If authorities can identify and capture the shooter, that person would likely be charged with first degree murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses.
