Woodland Park Manslaughter SuspectA NY man faces charges for death by auto after he allegedly caused a car crash in Woodland Park NJ road that resulted in his passenger dying.

The single-vehicle accident happened around 6:15 a.m. on the 800 block of Rifle Camp Road in Woodland Park, New Jersey.

The suspect is a 29-year-old man from Tompkins Cove, New York. He was driving a 2004 Chevy Impala when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and went off the road.

A 20-year-old passenger in the car suffered catastrophic injuries in the accident and was later pronounced dead.

Detectives with the Woodland Park Police Department conducted an investigation into the fatal car accident and determined that the driver may have been drunk. It is unclear at this time whether blood tests were administered to the driver.

The suspect has been charged with death by auto, a very serious criminal offense that could lead to him being sentenced to 5-10 years behind bars.

Additionally, the suspect has been cited for multiple traffic offenses, including Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
