Clifton NJ Aggravated Assault LawyersThe former pastor of a church in Clifton New Jersey could be headed to prison if he is convicted on charges stemming from the alleged assault of a baby at a Wal-Mart in Kansas City, Missouri.

The suspect used to be the pastor at the Ukrainian Orthodox Holy Ascension Cathedral, which is located in Clifton, NJ. He resigned as pastor at the end of 2015.

According to law enforcement, the suspect committed the assault crime at a Wal-Mart store in the Overland Park area of Kansas City. He reportedly the four-month-old child from of a shopping cart and choked and scratched her.

The mother screamed, prompting other shoppers to run over and offer assistance. Several people reportedly pinned the suspect to the ground until cops could arrive and place him under arrest.

The suspect was soon arrested and charged with aggravated battery.

Now the suspect faces significant penalties. He recently made an appearance in court at a pre-trial hearing. The mother of the victim in the case testified at the hearing and said that the suspect threatened to kidnap the baby before committing the assault.
