A Paterson New Jersey man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a local gas station worker was apprehended in Pennsylvania.
The suspect, a 28-year-old resident of Paterson, NJ, allegedly used a handgun to shoot and kill the victim during a robbery attempt on January 23, 2017.
The victim was a 57-year-old resident of Fair Lawn, New Jersey. After the shooting, he was taken to nearby St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center so that he could receive medical treatment for his gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Detectives with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Paterson Police Department conducted a joint investigation into the fatal shooting and identified the suspect as the likely shooter. Authorities later found the suspect in Pennsylvania and placed him under arrest.
The suspect was charged with multiple crimes, including first degree murder, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
The suspect is currently behind held at the Pottsville Police Department in Pennsylvania. He will eventually be extradited back to Passaic County, New Jersey.
