Paterson New Jersey police officers and federal law enforcement officials recently arrested a man who is accused of murdering someone in Puerto Rico.
The suspect, a 25-year-old resident of Puerto Rico, allegedly shot and killed a man during the summer of 2015. Afterwards, he reportedly evaded police and fled to New Jersey.
The US Marshals Service tried to track the suspect, but they were unable to find him. They caught a break recently when Paterson NJ police contacted federal authorities to notify them that the suspect had been located at an apartment complex located on Redwood Avenue in Paterson, NJ.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service and detectives with the Paterson Police Department then conducted a sting operation and captured the suspect inside a second-floor apartment at the apartment building.
During the raid, police also reportedly arrested four other individuals wanted on arrest warrants.
At this time, the suspect is being held at the Passaic County Jail in Paterson, NJ. He will eventually be extradited from New Jersey to Puerto Rico, where he will have to answer criminal charges that include murder and weapons offenses.
