Paterson New Jersey Handgun AttorneysPolice in Paterson New Jersey recently arrested a man accused of illegally possessing a handgun in his vehicle during a routine traffic stop.

According to law enforcement, the suspect was seen committing a traffic offense as he performed an illegal U-turn at the intersection of East 41st Street and 18th Avenue in Paterson, NJ. A couple of sheriff’s officers with the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office subsequently stopped the suspect’s silver GMC truck.

When the Passaic County cops talked to the driver, he appeared anxious. At one point while speaking to the Passaic County officers, the suspect allegedly gestured toward his glove box.

The Passaic County police officers conducted a search of the suspect’s truck and allegedly found a Starfire 9mm handgun. Police later said that the handgun was loaded with one round of ammunition in the chamber and another 11 rounds in the magazine.

The suspect is a 41-year-old Paterson New Jersey man. He was arrested and charged with several weapons offenses, including unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

While the suspect was being processed at police headquarters, law enforcement learned that he had an outstanding criminal warrant out of Paterson, NJ. The terms of the suspect’s supervised parole meant that he was not allowed to possess a weapon. As a result, the suspect also faces criminal charges for a certain persons offense.
